Gluten free bread is an issue. To really enjoy a piece of toast you have to pay $12 for a loaf. There are “cheaper loaves” for $8 but most of the time the texture resembles sand and the taste resembles some really stale unsalted crackers. I find that gluten free products like bagels, buns, baguettes or rolls are often too thick, have an overpowering taste or fall apart at the slightest movement. Because of this I often substitute a piece of square loaf for all of these bread products. When younger and first gluten free, there were no options for edible gluten free bread but the products have expanded and come a long way since then. With this huge advancement in the gluten free industry, I am hopeful one day there will be some more variety in the types of bread that are available and tasty!
