So i’ve heard of lactase enzyme pills to assist in lactose digestion but this week, I came across “gluten relief pills” at the pharmacy. After looking into how these pills work, I discovered it functions in the same way lactase pills do in preventing symptoms of intolerance. This pill claims that it will regulate levels of good bacteria in the gut while breaking down the gluten you consume before it causes any reaction of discomfort or bloating. It is important to note that this pill can not be used for those with celiac disease because it a serve medical allergy and there is no evidence to suggest it would work in helping. However, for people like me who are sensitive and have a hard time digesting gluten, it has seen some positive results. After talking with my friend who is also sensitive to gluten we have made a tentative plan to have a day absolutely feasting on some delicious gluten full meals and test the effects of these gluten pills! Before we do this we will look into the reviews and research around different brands and version of the pill to make sure we can get the best results. This experiment could either be a long awaited solution to my digestion problems and end my gluten free diet or… result in episode 2 my eating gluten disaster! If we end up trying them I will be updating my blog with our story so stay tuned in the coming weeks!
